The Kill Devil Hills Ocean Rescue staff works daily to ensure the safety of visitors and locals alike. Sometimes those “visitors” take on the form of another species!
According to a Facebook update shared Saturday, June 18, Kill Devil Hills Ocean Rescue lifeguards recovered a sick loggerhead sea turtle along the beach.
Following the rescue, the ill turtle was retrieved by the Outer Banks non-profit organization, N.E.S.T. (Network of Endagered Sea Turtles), who then delivered it to the STAR Center at the NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island.
