Kill Devil Hills Fire Department names 2021 Firefighter of the Year, long-time service honors

The Kill Devil Hills Fire Department (KDHFD) took to Facebook Tuesday morning to announce three stellar accomplishments for their Department including the official titles of 2021 Firefighter of the Year and two long-time service honors.

The title of 2021 Firefighter of the Year was awarded to Rodney Rawls who was selected by his peers for the prestigious honor.

Captain Ron Barnes was acknowledged for his long-time service of 35 years with the KDHFD in addition to Deputy Fire Chief Frank M. Roepcke III who was honored for over 20 years of work.

Hats off to these courageous individuals who put their life on the line every day to help keep our community safe and thriving.
