The 30th annual Kelly’s St. Patrick’s Day parade will have a route that’s one-half-mile shorter this year due to stormwater improvement construction in the Gallery Row area.

The parade starts at Mile Post 11.5 on the Beach Road, at the intersection of Bladen Street and South Virginia Dare Trail, and typically continues north to Driftwood Street.

Due to stormwater improvement work in the 2400 block of South Virginia Dare Trail, the parade will instead end at Admiral Street, where a traffic light at the street’s intersection with U.S. 158 will provide a safer means of departing the area, according to a town news release.

Construction begins March 4 and is expected to be completed by the beginning of May. Through traffic will be re-routed around the closed section of South Virginia Dare Trail.

Access to Red Drum Tap House, Seagreen Gallery, and Surfin’ Spoon Frozen Yogurt Bar, will remain open during construction.
