Corolla – Judy A. Echols died peacefully at her home in Corolla, North Carolina on June 26, 2020. Judy had been ill for six months.
Judy began her life in Lancaster, Ohio- born to her late mother and father, Virginia Ison and John B. Echols. Her brother, John Echols died January 1, 2019 and is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Echols of Wilmington, North Carolina. She is also survived by her nephew, Christopher Echols and his wife Kristy of Texas, and her niece, Emily Payne and her husband, Chuck of Georgia.
Judy graduated from Bishop Fenwick High School in Lancaster, Ohio and Ohio Dominican College. She became a Dominican Sister of Peace in Columbus, Ohio and served as a Dominican Sister for 12 years. She worked at Merrill Lynch in New York City as a stockbroker and retired after 26 years of employment.
She lived in Corolla, North Carolina, with her dear friend, Ann Colombell, formerly a Dominican Sister of Peace in Columbus, Ohio. Judy will be buried with her mother in Lancaster, Ohio.
Judy will be remembered as a dear friend with a sharp wit and beautiful smile. All who knew Judy loved her. In lieu of flowers, Judy’s family suggests donations in Judy’s name to: Dominican Sisters of Peace, 2320 Airport Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43219.
