John “Jack” Capwell

John “Jack” Capwell, age 83, of Currituck, NC died on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at his home.  Born in Scranton, PA on September 11, 1939 to the late John Ray Capwell and Marie Holden Capwell, he was the loving husband of Loni Dombrowski Capwell for sixty years.  He served his country honorably for over twenty-three years in the U. S. Army until his retirement and always took great pride in his service to his country. A hardworking man all his life, he was always there for, and took great care of, his family.  Jack enjoyed the outdoors and hiking. He also enjoyed bowling, dancing, and was a hard-core Pittsburgh Steelers fan. 

In addition to his wife, Loni, he is survived by three daughters, Pamela M. Andrews (Joel), Caroline A. Foss (Bob), and Jacqueline J. Griffin (Ken); a son, Mark A. Capwell (Anna); two brothers. Richard R. Capwell and Edward P. Capwell; two sisters-in-law, Doris Gonzales and Vera Stenke; nine grandchildren, Nicholas A. Steinruck, Jennifer M. Steinruck, Christopher T. Melochick, Jammie L. Smith, Thomas J. Foss, Kevin T. Foss, Stacey Amtman, Kenneth J. Griffin, II, and Connor A. Capwell; and eleven great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Makenna, Olivia, Jakobi, Layla, Ophelia, Sadie, Gavin, Emma, Jace, and Zachary.

A funeral service will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery officiated by a military Chaplain.
