Jean Blankenship Williams

Annie Jean Blankenship Williams, a loving, gentle, and thoughtful woman, passed away on May 1, 2023, at Currituck Health and Rehabilitation in Barco, North Carolina. Born on September 14, 1932, in Bradshaw, West Virginia, Jean was the daughter of the late Bertha Justice Blankenship and was the widow of Edmond Dailey Williams.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Donna Williams Poole (Bill) of New Bern, North Carolina, and son, Larry “Buck” Williams (Julie) of Conquest, Canada. She was blessed with four grandchildren, Pamela O’Neal, Megan Rodriguez, Chelsea Poole, and Shelby Poole, as well as two great-grandchildren, Kevin Campbell and Kyndal Grace Poole. Jean was preceded in death by her daughter, Velma Sue O’Neal, and a grandson, William Dailey Poole.

Throughout her life, Jean was a skilled seamstress, dedicating her talents to creating beautiful garments and carefully mending cherished pieces. Her attention to detail and commitment to her craft were evident in every stitch. 

A proud member of the Eastern Star, Jean’s dedication to the Eastern Star’s values of love, hope, and charity was evident in her actions and the way she treated others. She was a shining example of the organization’s commitment to making the world a better place through acts of kindness and compassion.

One of Jean’s favorite pastimes was participating in line dancing shows. Her graceful movements and radiant smile lit up the stage, bringing joy to all who watched her perform. Her love for dance not only brought her personal fulfillment but also allowed her to connect with others and create lasting friendships.

In her later years, Jean enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She took great pride in their accomplishments and delighted in their company. 

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023 at Laurel Memorial Gardens, 1115 Macedonia Church Road, Poplar Branch, NC 27965 with Pastor Susan Lindblade officiating. A reception will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall at Sharon United Methodist Church, 275 Poplar Branch Road, Poplar Branch, NC 27965.
