Javan Davis Eaton, 72, of Manns Harbor, NC died Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at her home.
Born in Ahoskie, NC on May 26, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Jennie Mae Brinkley Davis and Roy Davis, Jr.
Mrs. Eaton is survived by her loving husband, Milton Eaton; son, Gregg Cowan (Cortney); grandchildren, Will and Katie Cowan; and sister, Jennie Lee Davis.
Mrs. Eaton graduated from Bertie High School in 1968. She earned her bachelor’s degree in English, French, and History from East Carolina University graduating in 1972. She taught French, English, and History at Currituck High School and at Manteo High School for a total of 26 years. During a hiatus from teaching, Mrs. Eaton worked as a social director for Ships Watch in Duck, NC. She was a member of Watson’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Engelhard, NC and was always known for her love of children and teaching.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives for a viewing and visitation Saturday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Twiford Colony Chapel, Manteo, NC.
