Jane Magette Jones, 69, of Manteo, NC died Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at the Currituck House in Moyock, NC.
Born in Smithfield, VA on November 12, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Charlotte Reynolds Magette and Robert Magette.
Jane attended Queens University of Charlotte and Campbell University earning her bachelor’s degree in psychology. She worked for Harnett County and Dare County Social Services.
An animal lover, Jane often volunteered at the Dare County Animal Shelter. She especially loved horses having rode and shown them in her twenties. Having scuba dived in her younger years, Jane loved the water and beach.
Jane is survived by her husband, M. Warren Jones; three daughters, Lauren Abernethy and husband Michael of St. Leonard, MD, Ashley McLeod of Amherst, VA, and Courtney Nunnally of Midlothian, VA; one son, Travis Jones and wife Hillary of Apex, NC; grandchildren, Seth Nunally, Clara Jones, Chase Vega, Granger Jones, River Nunally, Ahsha Dixon, Jackson Abernethy, and Hilton Jones; and one sister, Mary Sue Magette of Richmond, VA.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022, from 2:00 until 4:00 pm at Stripers Bar and Grill, 1100A S Bay Club Dr., Manteo, NC 27954. Overnight accommodations can be made, and a bereavement rate will be extended at The Ramada Plaza Hotel, Nags Head, The Heart of Manteo, and Burrus House, the guest will just need to mention that they are booking for the Jane Jones Memorial.
