“In the early morning of Friday, Oct. 23, a devastating fire broke out in Buxton, NC.  The neighborhood is on a quiet cul-de-sac and full of locals, teachers and Coast Guard families.  My friend, Kat, 16 and her brother, Rory, 11, were away visiting their grandparents.  Their mother, Sarah, was lost to the fire; their father and a family friend were badly burned; and their close friends and neighbors in the duplex–a mother and her two young children–were also killed. Their beloved beach dog, Tonka, and pet lizard, Mushu, also perished in the fire…

Kat is one of those people who is always happy–just like her mom. Kat is very smart, creative and outgoing.  She is an artist and taking AP courses as she plans to go to college after she graduates.  Rory is one of the nicest boys you could imagine.  He is respectful, smart and funny.

Kat and Rory have that light in them from their mother and I don’t want to see it diminished.  They need help in replacing their lost comfort items as well as basic necessities.  Their father also faces a long recovery and mounting medical bills. Their futures look very different from what they were just a few days ago.

I am asking you for even the smallest donation just to help them shoulder the life that now face. I want them to feel a hug from the world and keep the light in their eyes.”

“The Pereira and Pickett families would like to raise money to support the families impacted by the devastating fire that occurred this morning, Friday 10/23/2020. Much is still unknown and we want to be as sensitive as possible. Funds will 100% directly support the families and will be distributed to them as soon as we can. Multiple lives were lost and many impacted. Please pray for them if you can.

All donations are greatly appreciated, even the smallest amount helps. If you are unable to donate, please know that your thoughts and prayers are also deeply needed at this time. As owners of the Cottages at the Cape property, the Pereira and Pickett families are grief-stricken by this catastrophic incident. Let’s try to support the victims and emergency personnel any way we all can.”

“Last night in Buxton, North Carolina my best friend megan lost everything she has worked so hard for. Her family had just moved and settled into this beautiful complex when a fire tore through the buildings and destroyed everything they have except the clotheson their back. I know with the state the country is in that it can be tough financially but anything makes a difference even 5 bucks. Sacrifice that iced coffee so they can start getting their life back together. If you know megan you know she is the SWEETEST person and would do anything and everything for people. Please please help my best friend and her family out. Any amount is so greatly appreciated.”
