Inland areas may see black ice tonight, Outer Banks gets just rain with next storm systems

After a morning drenching, it's been a gray Super Bowl Sunday all along the Outer Banks. [OBXSurfInfo.com image]

After getting a soaking rain on Super Bowl Sunday, inland parts of northeastern North Carolina are forecast to drop below freezing tonight which could lead to a few slick spots on area roads.

And while a large swath of the East Coast will be dealing with more snow, we will continue to just get a few more rounds of chilly rain into next weekend.

Temperatures along the Outer Banks are forecast to stay just above freezing. But areas away from the water could drop into the upper 20s tonight.

The latest snowmaker for the western Piedmont and mountains of North Carolina and Virginia is moving through New England this afternoon.

Mainly dry conditions are expected Monday as high pressure building in from the north will quickly push offshore Monday night.

That will be followed by a weak area of low pressure that will move along the coast on Tuesday. Another system will impact the region late in the week. Temperatures will be at or just below normal for the week.

Winds and seas on the coastal waters will remain at or just below small craft advisory criteria, with moderate surf conditions along the beaches this week.
