Hyde County man facing felony drug charges after arrest on Roanoke Island

A Hyde County man is facing multiple felony drug counts after he was arrested on Roanoke Island.

According to a Dare County Sherriff’s Office news release, a deputy working the B-District on August 20 conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near Baumtown Road on N.C. 345 at approximately 11:35 p.m.

During the stop the deputy smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was searched and an amount of heroin, MDMA, marijuana drug paraphernalia and cash was seized.

Donald Wayne Gibbs, 40, of Scranton, was charged with felony possession of heroin, felony possession of MDMA and speeding. Gibbs was released after posting a $15,000 secured bond.
