A Wednesday evening fire damaged a vacation home in the 200 block of East Hayman Street in Kill Devil Hills.

The Kill Devil Hills Fire Department was dispatched to the scene just before 7 p.m. and arrived to find “a large fire on the back of the structure,” the town said in a news release.

Fire crews from Colington and Kitty Hawk Fire Departments, along with the Kill Devil Hills Police Department and Dare County EMS were also on scene and assisted in the operation.

The fire was extinguished and contained to the rear and side of the house on the first and second floors, deck and siding. There were no injuries.

The Kill Devil Hills Fire Marshal, John Risoldi Sr., is investigating to determine the fire origin and cause.

The Beach Road was closed to traffic between Hayman and Sothel in the Avalon section of Kill Devil Hills as fire crews battled the blaze.
