High-speed chase in Currituck leads to crash, arrest

A 24-year-old Norfolk woman was arrested Wednesday night after a pursuit into Moyock along N.C. 168 in Currituck County.

At approximately 6 p.m., deputies attempted to stop a vehicle speeding north on N.C. 168 at 88 mph in a 55 mph zone, the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The driver fled from the pursuing deputy sheriff heading into Moyock, where she crashed into a another patrol vehicle that was positioning for backing up the deputy in the pursuit, the release said.

The driver was detained after resisting arrest and checked by Currituck County EMS, authorities she said.

Samantha D. Suski of Norfolk, was arrested for felony speeding to elude arrest, DWI, failing to heed to lights and sirens, speeding 110 mph, possession of open container, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, three counts of assault on law enforcement, and resist delay and obstruct law enforcement, the release said.

She was held at the Currituck County Detention Center on a $65,000.00 secured bond.
