Henry Bryan “Rip” Ward, 65, of Poplar Branch, NC died Monday, May 17, 2021, at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center.
Born in Norfolk, VA on August 26, 1955, he was the son of the late Grace D. Price Ward and Augustus S. Ward.
In addition to his parents, Rip was heartbroken at the loss of his daughter, Jennifer Ward.
He was a loving family man who enjoyed playing the guitar especially when his family joined in. He was a patriot who spent his time serving others. He will be missed by many.
Rip is survived by his wife, Wendy Early Ward; daughter, Joy Rainwater (Danny); three sons, Chris Ward (Kenna), Tyler Ward, and Tucker Ward; and four grandchildren, Brianna, Beau, Genevieve, and Jacob. Also, surviving are his siblings, Jackie Ward, Sara Navarro (Frank), Peggy Twiford, and Gus Ward, Jr. (Jeannie); nieces and nephews; and his dog, Nora, whom he adored.
A private family graveside service will be held at Manteo Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 14, 2021, at Liberty Christian Fellowship. All are invited.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bethel Colony of Mercy (bethelcolony.org) or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (lls.org).
