Podcast: Salvation Army “Stuff The Bus” school supply drive at Walmart this weekend

The start of the school year can be a stressful time for families. For one in five children living in poverty, parents often have to choose between buying school supplies or putting food on the table.

Now, there are even more unknowns as children return to learning in the midst of COVID-19.

Whether they’re attending class online or in the classroom, school supplies remain critical to helping students feel prepared to succeed.

To start the academic year off right, The Salvation Army is running a national school supply drive from August 7-9.

They are asking people to donate supplies at nearly 4,500 Walmart stores around the country. Simply drop new school items in one of the bins when you shop at Walmart in Kitty Hawk or search for your local Salvation Army’s Registry for Good to donate online.

The Salvation Army will make sure those supplies get to a kid in need in your community.

Walmart and The Salvation Army have collaborated for more than 30 years to meet local community needs.
