Dare Children & Youth Partnership providing free diapers to local families in need

Did you know that diapers alone can cost nearly $100 a month, and that they cannot be purchased with food stamps or WIC?

Children & Youth Partnership for Dare County recognizes that diaper need is a problem for families in Dare County, and has set out to collaborate with our community to address it by launching CYP’s Diaper Bank – A Change for the Better.

CYP has held diaper drive-thru distribution events since May on Roanoke Island and on Hatteras Island, with the help of the Outer Banks Community Foundation and several other individuals, businesses, and organizations.

CYP is excited to announce its upcoming contactless Diaper Pick-Up, to be held on Monday, August 10 through Wednesday, August 12 from 9:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. at the Center for CYP in Manteo. During this event, Dare County families will be able to receive free diapers to help with their diapering needs. While supplies last, diaper sizes available are newborn to size six, with a limit of two packs of diapers per family.

To receive free diapers through CYP’s contactless Pick-Up, families will arrive at the Center for CYP, located at 534 Ananias Dare Street in Manteo. Families will call the CYP office at 252-441-0614 to let them know their size needs, and will remain in their vehicles. A CYP staff member will bring the needed diapers to a table outside, and return to the office. Families can then get out of their vehicles to get their diapers from the table. Please contact CYP at (252)441-0614, visit darekids.org, or follow CYP on Facebook at facebook.com/cypdarekids for more information about this and other upcoming distributions.
