Happy news! Staff at the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island this week released 11 sea turtles from the beach south of Avon.
Three Kemp’s ridley turtles and eight greens met the ocean again after being successfully rehabilitated from cold-stunning this past winter. Each turtle was cleared for release after a final checkup from the aquarium veterinary team.
“Thanks to our partners with Cape Hatteras National Seashore for all their assistance. There are currently 15 patients in the STAR Center,” the aquarium said in a Facebook post.
