Local seafood market Jeffrey’s Seafood in Hatteras village had a starring role in a recently released promotional video for “A Gathering Storm,” a new six-episode series on the National Geographic Channel.

Per the show’s synopsis, “A Gathering Storm” is a major global series which features a unique view of the planet’s fiercest storms, through the experience of people who work on the water within the major hurricane zones of the world.

Through extensive access agreements, hundreds of cameras are embedded on boats, ships and oil platforms, so as a storm approaches and the clock ticks down, the cameras stay with the men and women who witness weather at its wildest, from all angles.

The series’ premiere episode is focused on the days leading up to 2019’s Hurricane Dorian, which is also when the promotional video takes place.

The video is a snapshot of the preparations by the workers of Jeffrey’s Seafood as they brace for the impacts of Hurricane Dorian. The team tries to salvage their product before power outages and flooding become an imminent concern, and they also take a moment to explain how storm surge affects Hatteras village when hurricanes pay a visit to the Outer Banks.
