Another local business has taken a hit from the COVID-19 pandemic, as H2OBX Waterpark in Harbinger announced Friday they will not open this season.
Amusement and waterparks in North Carolina have been kept closed by executive order of Gov. Roy Cooper, with the state remaining in phase 2 of reopening until at least July 17 due to recent rise in cases of coronavirus.
“This is an unfortunate situation, and we know so many of you share our disappointment,” according to a post on the waterpark’s Facebook page.
All 2020 season passes will be valid through 2021, and 2020 season passholders will receive one free complimentary single day admission ticket valid for the 2021 season.
“In the meantime, please stay safe and healthy and continue to support each other. H2OBX Waterpark is proud and honored to be a part of the Outer Banks community.”
Two other local businesses also shuttered around the end of June, primarily due to the fallout from the coronavirus.
Just days after Nu-Quality shut down, a banner was raised announcing Taco Bell will soon occupy the building on the westbound side of U.S. 158 in front of The Marketplace shopping center.
