Glen Albert Dixon

Glen Albert Dixon of Knotts Island, North Carolina, aged 69, passed away quietly in his sleep on January 23, 2024.

Glen was born to Albert and Mary Dixon on October 26, 1954 following the wake of the powerful Hurricane Hazel, still to this day the strongest hurricane to ever hit the North Carolina coast. Glen lost his parents early in life, and was raised by his grandmother, Addie Whitehurst Waterfield. Glen had a strong love for all things outdoors, including hunting, fishing and gardening. More likely than not, if you were a friend or even an acquaintance of Glen, you probably received vegetables from his garden, or if you were lucky, his famous deer jerky. Glen had a profound love of the lord, and he dedicated his life to his church, Knotts Island United Methodist Church, and to his beloved community. Glen never knew a stranger, everyone was just a new friend waiting to be met.

Glen was blessed with two brothers, the late Michael Dixon, and Stanley Dixon, both whom he immensely loved. Glen is survived by his wife, Vicki Lynn Dixon, who he doted on and adored until his final breath and who loved him more than anything; and his two daughters, Mary Jo Dixon and Katina Lee Cason who loved their father more than words can express. Glen was also blessed with three grandchildren, Brandon Taylor Ackiss, Amber Lynn Cason, and Amy Jo Martinez.

Glen’s funeral will take place January 29, 2024 at Knotts Island United Methodist Church at 1pm, and there will be a graveside service following immediately where he will be laid to rest with the rest of his late family members. After his burial, his family would like to invite everyone to join them back at KIUMC for a spaghetti dinner, Glen’s request and his favorite meal. This funeral is open to the public and all are encouraged to come celebrate the life of this tremendous man.

Glen’s family would like the request that in lieu of flowers, please donate what you would like to Knotts Island United Methodist Church, Glen’s home away from home. Please share an expression of comfort with the family at www.gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
