A nice surprise was awaiting members of the class of 2020 from two Dare County high schools on Tuesday when they came to pick up their cap and gowns for a graduation ceremony that unfortunately can’t be held this June due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Today was so exciting and emotional! With the help of a few from our community, I was able to purchase personalized yard signs for every senior at Manteo High School and the Dare Learning Academy,” said Quinn Capps-Wartenbe.

“The class of 2020 is a very precious one to me,” Capps-Wartenbe said. “They were my first class when I started substitute teaching. Everyone of them hold a special place in my heart.”

“Love you all so much!!! I can’t wait to see what the future holds for all of you!”
