Free scavenger hunt Saturday at Dowdy Park aims to improve safety of kids

The Institute for Transportation Research and Education at NC State University and the Albemarle Rural Planning Organization will host Safe Routes to School Day at Dowdy Park in Nags Head on Saturday, October 9.

This event will be open to the public and will be held from 11:00am – 3:00pm.

Safe Routes to School Day will feature a free scavenger hunt for kids and traffic safety give-a-ways for all participants.

The focus of the day will be on the “Show, Explain, Practice” campaign, which encourages grown-ups to have meaningful conversations with kids about how to be safe around traffic.

Following a short introduction, kids and their grown-ups will be encouraged to participate in a free scavenger hunt adventure around Dowdy Park and the surrounding area.
