Danny Williams, store manager of the Food Lion located at 805 Ocean Trail, Corolla, NC 27927, has been named a 2021 Food Lion Divisional Store Manager of the Year.

Williams is recognized for his dedication to the Corolla community, embodying Food Lion’s core value of care and its commitment to nourish and enrich the lives of customers, associates and neighbors.

“My associates always rise to the challenge. Whether they’re here for a few months in the summer or with us for years, my associates know we are a family,” said Williams. “We help and support each other, and that was incredibly important last year since we faced many challenges.”

Williams began his Food Lion career as a stocker 26 years ago. As a store manager for the past 16 years, he has successfully led the Corolla Food Lion team by fostering a strong culture and sense of belonging among his associates.

“Danny is a great leader who’s respected and appreciated by his associates and customers alike,” said Billy Zyliak, Division Vice President, Richmond/Norfolk Division, Food Lion. “His customers know they can count on Danny and his team to help nourish their families. I’m so appreciative of everything Danny does every day to serve his community and support our associates and customers.”

To recognize Williams’ unwavering support for his community, Food Lion will donate 5,000 meals to the Kitty Hawk Beach Food Pantry in his honor through Food Lion Feeds, the retailer’s hunger-relief initiative.

Williams is one of five store managers named a Food Lion Divisional Store Manager of the Year and is being considered for the 2021 Ralph W. Ketner Store Manager of the Year Award, which will be announced at a virtual ceremony on Feb. 10, 2022.
