A detached garage behind a home in Currituck County was heavily damaged after gusty winds reignited a burn pit.

The Crawford Township Volunteer Fire Department was called to the 200 block of North Gregory Road in Shawboro around 12 p.m. on Sunday.

The fire that had started in the woods quickly spread to the structures, and units from the Moyock and South Camden fire departments and the N.C. Forest Service were also dispatched.

Firefighters were quickly able to get the fire under control, and were able to save a Corvette and antique truck.

No one was home at the time the blaze started, and no injuries were reported.
