The Dare County Emergency Management Department has announced that Dare County Emergency Management Planner James Wooten has graduated from FEMA’s National Emergency Management Advanced Academy, which is located at the Emergency Management Institute in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
The full curriculum for the prestigious program provides strategic training and education on the essential skills and tools that are required in order for emergency management professionals to lead dynamic and resilient programs within their community.
The one-year program Wooten completed included four resident courses as well as multiple long-distance learning sessions, including “Application of Advanced Individual Concepts in Emergency Management,” “Assessment of Teams in Professional Emergency Management,” “Contemporary Issues in the Emergency Management Organization,” and “Advanced Concepts and Policy in the Emergency Management Profession.”
Selection for the National Emergency Management Advanced Academy is extremely competitive, with applicants coming from across the nation and throughout all levels of government.
“This is an incredible achievement,” said Dare County Emergency Management Director Drew Pearson. “James joined 25 other emergency management professionals completing a demanding curriculum while sharing best practices and real-world experiences that will benefit our program and those we serve for years to come.”
