Elizabeth Humrickhouse Secules, 82, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
She was born on March 7, 1939, in Richmond, VA to Thomas Johnson and Mable Besecker Humrickhouse.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 56 years, Thomas William Secules.
She is survived by her son Scott and his wife Tammy, her daughter Ann Urch and her husband Scott, and was “Mamaw” to her five grandchildren, Jeffrey Urch, Kelsey Secules, Rebecca Secules, Thomas W. Secules II, and Samantha Urch. Beth was also blessed with many dear friends over the years who became extended family.
She graduated with a Bachelors Degree from the College of William & Mary, where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.
Beth devoted her career to children as an elementary school teacher. She was an original member of All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Southern Shores, NC where she sang in the choir, worked with the Flower Guild and HealingTeam, and baked with a passion each fall for the Holly Days Bake Table.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Beth’s life will be held at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 40 Pintail Trail, Southern Shores, NC 27949, on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to All Saints’ Episcopal Church in her memory.
