Elizabeth City man faces drug, gun charges after traffic stop in Kill Devil Hills

A Friday night traffic stop in Kill Devil Hills led to the arrest of a 32-year-old Elizabeth City man on charges of marijuana and illegal gun possession, the Dare County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

At approximately 10:09 pm, a Dare County Sheriff’s Office deputy working the Beach District conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near 1208 South Croatan Highway. During the stop, the deputy could smell an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, the release said.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and an amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a handgun were located and seized, the sheriff’s office said.

Dorian Nanthaniel Riddick, of the 800 block of Price Street,  was charged with felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed handgun,  possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana drug paraphernalia, the release said.

Riddick was released on a $3,000 secured bond.
