Edna Mae Bateman Bagley, a long-time resident of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, passed away on June 15, 2023, at the age of 82. She was born on June 13, 1941, in Pasquotank County to the late Stephen John Bateman, Jr. and Dorthea Temple Bateman.
Throughout her life, Edna worked as a plant clerk with the telephone company. She was a dedicated and hardworking employee, always willing to lend a helping hand to her colleagues when needed.
Edna was a member of Newland United Methodist Church and the Elizabeth City Moose Lodge 1847. She cherished her time spent with fellow members of both organizations.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Lamb “Red” Bagley, her parents, her sister Helen Jean Bateman Evans, and her brother James W. Bateman.
Edna is survived by her daughter Lottie B. Forbes, sons Paul Bagley and Alton Bagley, and brothers Staley White and Steve John Bateman III.
A funeral service will be held at Twiford Memorial Chapel on Monday, June 19, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Dawne Hollis-Custer will officiate the service. Following the service, Edna will be laid to rest at Memory Gardens.
Edna will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her memory will live on in their hearts forever.
