Earth Day cleanup and food pantry fundraiser on Ocracoke this Thursday

There will be an Earth Day Cleanup and Fundraiser on Ocracoke Island on Thursday, April 22, to raise money for the Ocracoke Food Pantry.

Volunteers of all ages are needed to help clean up the streets of the village, and it will also be an opportunity to raise funds to restock our shelves. Volunteers are asked to find individuals willing to pledge funds for every full bag of trash they collect.

Please meet in the Ocracoke Fire Station parking lot on April 22nd between 3 and 6 p.m. Trash bags and gloves will be provided. Wear a mask when checking in. All volunteers are asked to return to the Fire Station parking lot by 7:30pm.

To volunteer, call or text Alicia Peel at 252-921-0348, or, you send an email ocracokepantry@gmail.com.

Three ways to get involved:
1. Connect with a volunteer and become one of their pledges
2. Fill out and return a paper pledge form. These will be available on the Ocracoke Post Office bulletin board and can be dropped off in a drop box on the porch of the Life Saving Church.
3. Visit the Google Form at https://forms.gle/Wd4CG8pw5kekV8zx8
You do not need to know someone in order to sponsor them! If you would like to support our effort from afar, there is an option to check “Assign me to a random volunteer” on our google form.
All pledges must be submitted by 5pm on April 21st
We suggest pledging $10 per bag
This cleanup will take place rain or shine, so be prepared. Let’s get together and clean up our community, while also feeding those in need!
