Donald Cornelius Morrison, of Duck, NC, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2024, at the age of 87. He was born on April 1, 1937, in Norfolk, VA, to the late Mildred Watts Morrison and Cornelius Morrison.
Donald led a fulfilling life that was marked by dedication and service. He graduated from Granby High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in biology from Virginia Tech. Donald honorably served his country as a Lieutenant in the United States Army for two years before embarking on a successful career. He worked at the Office of Naval Intelligence and AG Edwards & Sons as a financial consultant, where he made a positive impact on many.
Throughout his life, Donald was actively involved in various organizations and held leadership positions. He was a member of the Cadet Regimental Staff at Virginia Tech and a member of Duck United Methodist Church. Donald’s commitment to serving his community was evident through his roles as President of the student body at Virginia Tech, President of the Kempsville Recreation Association and an official for the Virginia High School League, an Official Arbitrator with FINRA, Mayor of Duck, NC, and Chairman of the Dare County Tourism Board.
Donald will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Lee King Morrison; his three children, Donald C. Morrison, Jr., Robin M. McInnis, and David K. Morrison; his brother, Robert W. Morrison; and a host of family and friends.
Services to honor and remember Donald Cornelius Morrison will be determined at a later date. May his legacy of service, leadership, and dedication live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
