Devin Wayne Williams

Kill Devil Hills, NC

Devin passed away peacefully at home in the loving arms of his mother and father on August 12, 2022. On October 19, 2004, Devin was born in Nags Head, NC at The Outer Banks Hospital to Daniel Emilio Williams and Melissa Ann Williams.  Devin is survived by his maternal grandmother, Laura Woodruff (Greg Meade); paternal grandmother, Francis Williams; uncle, Michael MacLean (Cher); aunt, Jamie Williams; and many other loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Devin was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John Wayne Woodruff; paternal grandfather, James David Williams; paternal great-grandmother, Elizabeth Hartmann (little granny); maternal great-grandmother, Lily Mae Williams; and aunt, Danielle Williams James.

Devin Wayne Williams had the biggest heart and the kindest soul.  Never met a stranger and was willing to help anyone. Always had the biggest smile. Devin could always be found fishing, surfing, skimboarding, skateboarding, or hunting.  There was never a challenge too big for him.  If he set his mind to something, he was going to do it no matter what.  Boy did he have a ton of wild stories for you, but they were always true. He would tell you all about his offshore fishing- catching white marlin and mahi- fishing on Avalon Pier or killing the biggest buck.

Devin stole the hearts of so many. He kept a tally of his girlfriends and if you made the list, you knew you had his heart. He had such a strong community that rallied for him and for his parents in so many ways.  Devin took on the challenge of Batten disease and man did he show it a thing or two.  He fought such a long hard road, and the disease stole so much from Devin, but he adapted- he never let it get him down.

Thank you to so many for all you have done for Devin and our family.  When they say it takes a village, they are so right.  Dare County is not just a village, it is a family.  This community has such great strength and willingness to help no matter what.  Thank you for always being there to help.  This is hands down one of the best communities.  Never take for granted the small things or the time you have with someone.  Life can change in the blink of an eye, and you never want to look back on and wish you had taken that time or enjoyed that moment.

As Devin’s parents, we gave him every moment and fought for him tooth and nail.  We will never regret anything.  We gave him the best life we could and although he is gone, he will always be with us in all of our exceptional stories and in our hearts.  Devin, we wish you tight lines.  This is not goodbye, it is see you soon.  We love you forever and a day.

A celebration of life will be at a later date.  Thank you all for your patience at this time.
