David Lee Kight

David Lee Kight, 57, of Camden, NC entered the gates of Heaven on February 10, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. He fought with a great will to live. He had the most positive attitude and never complained which also spoke of his entire life’s philosophy.

David was well known for his strong work ethic and took pleasure and pride in a job well done. He loved to build anything “out of wood”. He was truly a “woodman”. Starting at a young age working with his brothers, William and John Henry, at the family logging and sawmill, he could fix and repair anything.

David was a man of few words so when he had something to say, it was definitely worth hearing. He was funny and had a great sense of humor. David was loving, generous, and extremely giving of his time to anyone in need of help. He was tenderhearted when it came to people in need or hurting. He had such a big heart David was well contented with his life. He also loved to travel to the mountains in any state whenever possible.

David was the loving husband to his wife, Sherry. They spent thirty-eight truly happy years together. He loved his son, David Michael Kight. They spent many years together working side by side. He also loved and enjoyed his furry boy “Batman”.

David was born June 16, 1964 at home to the late William Wilfred Kight and Mary Marie Sanderlin Kight. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Henry Kight and a great-nephew, John Henry Kight, III.

In addition to his wife, Sherry, and son, David Michael Kight, he is survived by his brother, William Winfred Kight, Jr. (Rita); sisters-in-law, Ervinia Kight and Marie Wetherington; nephews, John Henry Kight, II, Jon Wetherington, Lucas Webb, Brooks Cartwrgiht, and Marshall Curry; nieces, Karen Brite, Holley Staples, Maggie Kight, Nicole Curry, Shelby Cartwright, Jacie Staples, Jessica Webb, and Brianne Brite.
