David Carder Wolfe

David Carder Wolfe, 76, of Grandy, NC went home to the Lord on May 24, 2023. He was born on May 6, 1947 in Parkersburg WV son of the late Boyd Alton and Kathleen (Carder); and preceded in death by his 15 year old son, Davey Reed Wolfe.  He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Charlette and their son, Andrew; his granddaughter, Chloe; brother, Bard; nephews, Bradley and Rusty; and in-laws Bill, Peggy, and Dan Ellison.

Dave served in the Navy from May 1967 to January 1973 during the Vietnam conflict.  He was a Boatswain Mate on the USS John King, DDG3.  He was very proud of his service.

He worked at Mullen Motors as a mechanic, Wegmanns VW as a salesman, and as a mechanic and meter reader for the City of Vienna until he moved to Virginia Beach. He was then employed by the City of Virginia Beach as a mechanic in their pump shop until he retired in 1998.

As a youth he was often found at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio racing his 55 Chevy. Dave never lost his love of cars and racing. He was an expert mechanic and engine builder; he restored many cars over the years.

When he moved to Virginia Beach in 1983, he expanded his interests to include ocean fishing, not just little fish but the big ones. He became known as the Sharkman due to the number and size of the ones he caught.  He fished from Nags Head Piers to the piers and beaches of Cape Hatteras. He was once interviewed and featured by a reporter for a magazine.  His name would show up in the Virginian Pilot for big fish he caught, quotes from him in the Sun, and articles in the Carolina Coast.  For the doubters out there, you can see a couple of videos on YouTube under NCSharkman.

David wishes for cremation will be honored and no services are planned at this time. Please share condolences with the family at gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
