The Dare County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following property crimes last month:

August 4, 2022

Larceny by Employee.  46000 block of NC 12 Hwy, Buxton.  Employee stealing from the business.  Under Investigation.

August 5, 2022

Forgery and Uttering.  26000 block of NC 12 Hwy, Waves.  Subject purchased items with counterfeit money.  Under investigation.

August 7, 2022

Robbery with Dangerous Weapon.  400 block of Airport Road, Roanoke Island.  Subject robbed and assaulted several victims at gunpoint.  The suspect was later identified and arrested.

August 11, 2022

Identity Theft.  100 block of Sherwood Drive, Roanoke Island.  Fraudulent accounts opened in victim’s name.

August 13, 2022

Assault Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury.  200 block of The Lane, Wanchese.  Family fight resulting in serious bodily injury to the victim.  The suspect was arrested.

August 15, 2022

Murder.  3000 block of Martins Point Road, Martins Point.  A physical altercation resulting in the suspect shooting the victim in the chest.  The victim died from the injury and the suspect was arrested.

August 19, 2022

Embezzlement.  40000 block of NC 12 Hwy, Avon.  Employees stealing money from a business.  Under investigation.

August 22, 2022

Obtaining Property by False Pretenses.  7000 block of Old Manns Harbor Road, Manns Harbor.  Apple security scam.  Victim bought a large amount of bitcoin and sent it to a scammer.  Under investigation.

August 23, 2022

Obtaining Property by False Pretenses.  100 block of Sunrise Lane, Colington.  A check was altered and then cashed more a much larger amount.  Under Investigation.

August 25, 2022

Assault with Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury.  47000 block of Flowers Ridge Road, Buxton.  Victim was assaulted causing serious injuries.  Victim refused to cooperate.
