Dare County Schools student meal program begins Sept. 1

Starting Sept. 1, Dare County Schools meal sites will resume school breakfast and lunch programs, the traditional school meal programs that operate during the school year.

Meals will be available for pick up for all enrolled students and provided in accordance with eligibility for free or reduced meal benefits. Students not eligible for free or reduced meals must pay for the meals at the point of service or online at K12 Payment Center. (Online payment is strongly encouraged.) Meal benefit applications may be submitted online at lunchapplication.com.

Meals can be picked up at the sites below on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week:

Cape Hatteras Elementary, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Manteo Elementary, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
First Flight Elementary, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Tuesday Meal Packages will include:
Tuesday’s lunch
Wednesday’s breakfast and lunch
Thursday’s breakfast

Cost for students:
Free Meal Status = free
Reduced Meal Status = free
Paid Meal Status = $8.00 (elementary); $8.50 (middle/high)
Thursday Meal Packages will include:

Thursday’s lunch
Friday’s breakfast and lunch
Monday’s breakfast and lunch
Tuesday’s breakfast
Cost for students:

Free Meal Status = free
Reduced Meal Status = free
Paid Meal Status = $12 (elementary); $12.75 (middle/high)

Community partners, The Beach Food Pantry and Food for Thought, will distribute weekend meals on Thursdays.
