Dare County Schools free meals program returns Wednesday

With Dare County Schools returning to virtual-only learning this Wednesday, the school system will begin serving free meals for all children 18 and younger once again.

The meal program begins Wednesday with contactless curbside meals available for pickup Monday through Friday each week during the following times:

  • Cape Hatteras Elementary School: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Manteo Elementary School: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • First Flight High School: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Weekend meals will be provided on Fridays

The school system will also distribute meals at the following community locations via yellow school buses Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  • Wanchese, Bethany United Methodist Church
  • Manteo, Roanoke Community Center (Head Start)
  • Stumpy Point, Community Center
  • Manns Harbor, parking lot beside Fire Department
  • East Lake, South Lake Drive
  • Nags Head, Tanger Outlet
  • Nags Head, Dowdy Park
  • Kill Devil Hills, Belk Center
  • Kitty Hawk, Daniels Homeport
  • Kitty Hawk Elementary
  • Colington, TJ’s Gas & Grill
  • Avon, 40591 NC Hwy 12 (Parking lot beside Burger Burger)
  • Tri-Villages, Community Building
  • Buxton, Cape Hatteras Elementary
  • Hatteras Village Civic Center
  • Frisco, Heritage of Faith Church
