The Dare County Department of Heath and Human Services reported 16 new cases of COVID-19 over the weekend, two on Saturday and 14 on Sunday.
Sunday’s cases include:
Male Resident 18-24 years of age, home isolation
Female Resident 18-24 years of age, home isolation
Male Resident 18-24 years of age, home isolation
Male Resident 18-24 years of age, home isolation
Female Resident 25-49 years of age, home isolation
Female Resident 17 – years of age, home isolation
Male Resident 17 – years of age, home isolation
Female Non-resident 25-49 years of age, transferred isolation to home county
Female Resident 50-64 years of age, home isolation
Male Resident 18-24 years of age, home isolation
Male Resident 25-49 years of age, home isolation
Female Resident 18-24 years of age, home isolation
Female Resident 25-49 years of age, home isolation
Female Resident 18-24 years of age, home isolation
Saturday’s new cases were both female Dare County residents between the ages of 25 and 49 and both are isolating at home.
Since testing began in March, Dare County has since 93 coronavirus cases, the vast majority since the Outer Banks reopened to visitors on May 16. County officials say between 150,000 and 200,000 are visiting the Outer Banks each week.
Health officials say Dare is experiencing community-wide spread of the virus, which many of the new cases not knowing how they acquired it.
A face mask mandate is in effect both locally and statewide in an effort to curb the spread of coronavirus.
