UPDATE: Trash collection schedule to change due to inclement weather Monday per Dare County Public Works

Due to continuing adverse weather conditions, Dare County Public Works will not conduct commercial trash collection on Hatteras Island on Tuesday, May 10, 2022. Weather permitting, this trash collection will be completed on Wednesday, May 11, 2022.

Residential trash collection was performed on Monday, May 9, 2022, in the villages of Buxton, Frisco and Hatteras—with the exception of a few secondary roads where trash was not collected due to standing water on the roadways.

The areas of Hatteras Island where trash collection was not completed today due to standing water will be checked again on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, and if conditions allow, trash collection will be completed at that time.

Dare County Public Works plans to return to its normal schedule on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, weather permitting.

If any additional schedule changes are necessary, updates will be posted as soon as possible.

REMINDER: The Dare County Public Works Department only provides trash collection for the Town of Kitty Hawk and the unincorporated areas of Dare County. Unincorporated Dare County does not include areas within a town’s limits.
