Dare County Library to present ‘The Beginnings of the Dare County Tourism Bureau and the Pirate Jamboree’

[Dare County/Submitted]

What do you do to attract people to the beach in the off-season? Turn them into pirates of course!

Learn how the Dare County Tourist Bureau created an event that included the entire Outer Banks in a week of costume contests, cook-outs, and fun-filled mayhem, as a part of it’s Adult Speaker Series on Tuesday, September 20, at noon.

Tama Creef is an archivist at the Outer Banks History Center, where she has worked for the past 15 years. She is a generalist in the topic of local history of the Outer Banks. Tama and her husband live with their dog, Pretty Girl, who enjoys living on Roanoke Island and chasing squirrels.
