The Dare County Control Group, a multi-jurisdictional policy-making body activated for emergencies and disasters, will meet Monday morning to discuss coronavirus response on the Outer Banks.
The group is made up of the Dare County Chairman of the Board of Commissioners Bob Woodard, the mayors of Manteo, Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk, Southern Shores and Duck, the superintendent of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore and Dare County Sheriff Doug Doughtie. The group commonly meets for hurricane preparation and response, but can be activated during any local emergency or disaster.
After the meeting, the control group plans to activate the Joint Information Center so that information from the various towns and other partners is issued jointly, said Dare County spokeswoman Dorothy Hester.
A dedicated phone line is planned with Dare County Health and Human Services staff members available to answer questions.
The county has established a website with the latest information on the coronavirus outbreak at www.darenc.com/covid19.
