Dare Arts Council’s ‘The Great Art Heist’ begins October 1

Boast your best bid while supporting the arts at Dare County Arts Council’s fundraising auction, The Great Art Heist, which will open at the DCAC Gallery in downtown Manteo on Friday, October 1.

The Great Art Heist was created in the wake of the pandemic, and after a successful first year the auction is returning with more art to steal for 2021.

“Join us for the fun and outbid us,” said Great Art Heist Event Chairs Bea Basnight and Gail Midgett. “The Great Art Heist is our only fundraiser of 2021, so this event is vital to continuing DCAC’s programming in our community. Our goal this year is to have even more pieces of work in the auction for guests to bid on. By bidding on artwork in The Great Art Heist, you are supporting the arts and helping sustain the future of Dare County Arts Council.”

Bidding will begin at 6pm on Friday, October 1 at Dare County Arts Council’s Gallery and online at DareArts.org/artauction.

“Thank you to all of the artists who have already donated pieces to this year’s Art Heist,” said Dare County Arts Council Gallery Director Lynne Francis. “We are constantly amazed by the talent in our artistic community.”

Artists willing to donate a piece of artwork to The Great Art Heist can email DCAC’s Gallery Director Lynne Francis at DareArtsGallery@gmail.com to coordinate pickup or drop-off.

Private viewings of The Great Art Heist will be available throughout October. To schedule a private viewing with a group of friends or for your business, please email Dare County Arts Council Executive Director Jessica Sands at DareArtsInfo@gmail.com.

Final bids must be in by 8:00pm on Friday, October 29.
