Daniel Lee Wooten, Sr.

Daniel Lee Wooten, Sr., age 80, of Hopewell Road, Edenton, NC died Friday, June 19,2020 at his residence.

He was born in Alabama on November 8, 1939 to the late Bob Woooten and Myrtle Tinker Wooten and was the husband of Laura Ralls Wooten. He served his country honorably in the US Navy and afterward became a Tug Boat Captain enjoying many years in the maritime industry.

He was the ‘Supervisor’ in life as a husband, father, grandfather and community leader as well as at work. He was a good hearted man with pretty blue eyes who would help anyone in any way. He loved his family deeply and he loved his dogs. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

Daniel is survived by Laura, his wife of eight years; three daughters, Brenda Raper (Paul), Teresa Ellinwood (Larry) all of Elizabeth City, and Tammy Nixon (Donnie) of Hertford; a son, Daniel L. Wooten, Jr. of Hertford; a stepson, Joshua Kline of Edenton; grandchildren, Nick, Sarah, Josh, Candice and Kody; ten great grandchildren; a sister, Irene Wilson (Lawson) of Williamsburg, VA; and brothers, Tom Wooten, Hank Wooten (Judy) and Jack Wooten. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gertrude C. Wooten; and brothers, Bob Wooten, Jr. and Jerry Wooten.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Twiford Memorial Chapel, officiated by Chester Stover and Lorrie Meads. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Escort will be provided by the North Carolina Patriot Guard Riders.
