Cynthia Jackson Simpson

Cynthia (Cindy) Simpson, 79, of Kill Devil Hills, NC crossed over December 16, 2022, in her home surrounded and supported by her family.  A stage four breast cancer survivor, she was recently diagnosed with terminal breast cancer. Cindy was a fighter and overcame many obstacles in her life; unfortunately, this fight couldn’t be won, and we lost her two weeks later. Her strength and determination were an inspiration to all who knew her.

Born and raised in Elizabeth City, Cindy considered the Outer Banks her true home. She loved sharing stories of her youth and days working at her grandparent’s quizzo and motel. She had a certain glow when she spoke of those days.

Cindy was a teacher, secretary, and even a business owner before finding her place with Cape Management as a property manager. She was a dedicated employee who was adored by coworkers and residents. She spoke of her time with them long after her retirement when she then went on to care for and help raise her two great-grandchildren. The oldest of seven children, Cindy understood the importance of family and showed it in so many ways. Cindy also enjoyed planting flowers, tending to her yard, lazy days at the beach, sitting by the shore and visiting with family sharing stories of the past. She had an infectious laugh and limitless energy. Cindy will be missed dearly, remembered fondly, and talked about for generations to come.

She is survived by her daughters, Pam and Stefanie Simpson; granddaughter, Brandy Simpson; great-grandchildren, Hudson Hayes and Piper Vanhorn; brothers, John and George Jackson; nieces, Jami Vanhorn, Kate Ward, Jenny, and Amber Jackson; nephew, John Jackson; and a host of extended family. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Elizabeth Jackson, and siblings, Betsy, Rusty, Andy, and William Jackson.

Per Cindy’s request, there will be no service just a gathering of family to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation to a Breast Cancer Foundation or the American Heart Association be made in her name.

Twiford Funeral Homes, Outer Banks is assisting the family with arrangements. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.TwifordFH.com.
