Currituck Outer Banks NRPOs will only be allowed in with hurricane reentry permit

Currituck County has clarified the entry procedures for non-resident property owners to their section of the Outer Banks, including Corolla, Swan Beach and Carova Beach, which will begin on Thursday at 9 a.m.

Hurricane season reentry permits issued to non-resident property owners by Currituck County Emergency Management will be the only accepted credential to pass through the law enforcement checkpoint at the Wright Memorial Bridge in Kitty Hawk.

Each vehicle will be required to display the permit to be allowed through the checkpoint. Other documents including tax bills will not be accepted, according to Currituck County public information officer Randall Edwards.

Currituck Outer Banks property owners who cannot find the re-entry permit or have questions may contact Currituck Emergency Management via email at emstaff@currituckcountync.gov or call 252-232-2115.

Dare County, which includes Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Colington, Nags Head, Manteo, Wanchese, Manns Harbor and Hatteras Island, will not reopen to non-resident property owners until the week of May 4.
