North Carolina continues to make listicles for its pristine beaches. The latest arrives from TheDiscoverer.com, as Corolla, Kill Devil Hills, and Ocracoke have been named three of the “7 Best Beaches in North Carolina” by the outlet dedicated to travel destinations.

Corolla, located at the northern end of the Outer Banks, was credited for its vehicular-accessible beaches where the “asphalt turns into sand.” “Driving on the beach isn’t the only draw here though,” says contributor Anna Cook. “The adorable Historic Corolla Village is right next to the Currituck Lighthouse, which can be climbed from mid-March to December for a bird’s eye view of the area, and both light up the imagination with what this town must have been like in the early 1900s.”

Kill Devil Hills receives mention for its heavy lifeguard presence who “patrol the public beaches during the high season here, making it an especially popular spot for families.” The destination you must visit while in Kill Devil Hills? The Discover says the Avalon Fishing Pier, one of the last wooden piers on the Carolina coast.

“This 16-mile long island wedged between Cape Lookout National Seashore and Cape Hatteras feels a bit more exclusive because it can only be reached by ferry,” Cook says, praising the seclusiveness of Ocracoke. “It takes a bit of pre-planning to get here compared to most vacation destinations, and for the high season you’ll want to make your reservation well in advance. But once you’re there, you’re rewarded with long stretches of beach where you and your friends or family will be the only ones around.”

Following the three Outer Banks beaches are Cape Lookout/Shackleford Banks, Atlantic Beach, Wrightsville Beach, and Carolina & Kure Beach located further south.
