Coastal flood warning issued for Hatteras & Ocracoke, advisory for northern Outer Banks

Distant Major Hurricane Fiona continues to bring coastal impacts to eastern North Carolina today, Friday, September 23.
Based on overwash reports from yesterday, and the expectation of higher tide levels and swell peaking today, a Coastal Flood Warning has been issued for Hatteras and Ocracoke Islands, per a report from the National Weather Service (NOAA).

Additionally, a Coastal Flood Advisory has been issued for the northern Outer Banks. Otherwise, there are no significant changes from the previous briefings with very dangerous surf and marine conditions continuing.
