Robby Atwood of Chesapeake, Va. caught this 34.4 pound king mackerel while pin rig fishing from the end of Jennette’s Pier in Nags Head Thursday morning.
He said the fish was the largest one he’d caught since learning to king fish three years ago. He was using a live bite to lure the fish to bite.
A number of kings, and even a few tarpon, have been reported from several piers on the Outer Banks over the last few days.
