Sea Tow Oregon Inlet – the leading provider of on-water assistance for boaters in the Outer Banks – is celebrating 15 years of service in one of the most popular and challenging inlets on the east coast.

Capt. Stuart Wescott, owner and head captain, is a 12th generation Outer Banks local and employs a team of three captains at Sea Tow Oregon Inlet. His staff of local watermen is a main reason for his success. Collectively, they have more than 100 years of experience.

“I have truly enjoyed owning Sea Tow Oregon Inlet for the last 15 years,” Capt. Wescott said. “It can be challenging, but we enjoy helping the boating community. My team includes some of the most knowledgeable captains around, and that makes a big difference when it comes to helping those on the water.”

The Outer Banks is one of the most scenic areas on the Eastern Seaboard that draws many visitors, but it can sometimes be a delicate area to navigate.

“Our members are savvy boaters,” Wescott said, “but if you aren’t paying attention, you can easily run aground in the many shallow areas. Over the last two weeks, we’ve had two boats over 50 feet run aground. It’s a common occurrence in the Outer Banks that happens year-round.”

Sea Tow Oregon Inlet is a mainstay to the local community. The franchise sponsors several sports teams and maintains a Sea Tow Foundation Life Jacket Loaner Station on Manteo, where individuals or families can borrow life jackets for the day and then return them.

Over the last 15 years, Capt. Wescott has truly embraced the Sea Tow lifestyle, according to Sea Tow CEO Captain Joseph Frohnhoefer III.

“We are thrilled to congratulate Capt. Wescott on his 15th anniversary of business,” Frohnhoefer said. “We take pride in the services that we offer the boating community, and Sea Tow Oregon Inlet maintains those standards in all they do.”

Catch Capt. Wescott every Saturday morning at 8 a.m. when he’s on Capt. Marty’s Other Side of Fishing on Beach 104 and Big 94.5 WCMS.
