After setting a new record for the earliest fifth named system to form in the Atlantic in history, Elsa became the first hurricane of 2021 Friday morning.

According to the National Hurricane Center special advisory at 7:45 a.m., surface observations from Barbados recorded a maximum sustained wind of 74 mph and a gust to 86 mph.

Elsa is currently forecast to maintain at least tropical storm strength into early next week when it could reach southern Florida.

She couldn’t keep it in, heaven knows she tried.

Hurricane warnings have been issued for Barbados, St. Vincent, the Grenadines and St. Lucia.

So don’t “Let It Go” during the holiday weekend that Elsa is out there.
