Brightspeed, the nation’s fifth largest incumbent local exchange carrier (ILEC), today announced that it has officially started selling its gig-speed fiber internet services (“Brightspeed Fiber Internet”) to customers in Manteo, North Carolina.

The company expects to bring Brightspeed Fiber Internet to nearly 13,000 customers in Dare County, including Manteo, Nags Head, and Colington in 2023.

“Since the official launch of Brightspeed in October 2022, we have hit the ground running to develop a best-in-class, modern network using state-of-the-art technology to provide customers in North Carolina and across the U.S. with access to reliable, high-speed broadband,” said Sherry Hessenthaler, operations strategy lead for Brightspeed. “Faster, more reliable internet service has an incredible impact on families and businesses, and as a North Carolina-based company, it’s especially meaningful that we’re able to offer our fiber internet services to North Carolinians.”

The first phase of Brightspeed’s fiber build includes plans to reach 300,000 customers across North Carolina by the end of 2023.
